ShipConstructor is an AutoCAD based shipbuilding CAD/CAM software suite that provides detail design and modeling tools for production engineering of marine structures. ShipConstructor captures all information relevant to the 3D design, manufacturing, maintenance, repair and refit of complex marine projects inside of a Marine Information Model (MIM). At the heart of the model is a single relational database residing on a Microsoft SQL Server that can be integrated with related business processes and applications. ShipConstructor’s unique software architecture and AutoCAD foundation provide significant competitive advantages.

Representatives from SSI (ShipConstructor Software Inc.) have authored papers on Virtual Reality and Weight Estimation that are being presented at COMPIT 2013, the 12th International Conference on Computer Applications and Information Technology in the Maritime Industries. The event will be held April 15-17 in Cortona, Italy.
The ShipConstructor 2013 R2 release from SSI offers significant enhancements to its Electrical Product. ShipConstructor now has that ability to automatically route cables between junction points within a 3D environment shared by the rest of the shipbuilding engineering team, thereby reducing interferences and promoting concurrent engineering.
Damen Shipyards Group and ShipConstructor representative CADMatch will speak about challenges and solutions involving Concurrent Engineering at the CADMatch Maritime Days Conference, March 20, 2013.
